Sunday was Earth Day

One of the many things I love about gluebooking is that it's a wonderful opportunity to recycle.  Also TV Turnoff Week begins today.  How much more art play could you enjoy if you let go of the shadow comfort of watching too much TV?

April Fresh

Last Monday's prompt on the Gluebooks Yahoo group was "favorite food".  I couldn't pick one, so I played with the fresh flavors of spring. 

April is National Poetry Month

Poet Charles Bernstein "Against National Poetry Month As Such" feels about National Poetry Month the same way I feel about Black History Month.  Nevertheless, here's an original poem by altered artist Shauna Lea Swantek.  I first saw it in a fatbook and it's been snoozing in my inbox ever since.  With Shauna's permission I share it with you.  Happy National Poetry month and may you enjoy art and poetry every day.

Think on These Things

While reviewing my last journal volume, I noticed there were way too many times when I finished an entry with "think on this" only to never re-visit the topic again.  So in this new journal volume, I've added this page to the front matter of my journal, reminding me to tie up those loose ends and make some decisions.  The quotation on the left page of the spread reads "Most of us need to recognize a good idea and then think about it for a while before we actually implement it.  The lag between knowing and doing isn't neurotic; it's normal.  We're just gearing up for change" (Borysenko, 2001, p. 31).

Energy Vampire Repellent

  I don't remember when I first heard about energy vampires, but I first read about them in Judith Orloff's Positive Energy. The text reads: Gracefully from a state of being that transcends the ordinary and makes us more understanding, more loving and more dignified (Aronson, 2006, p. 1), Appreciate positive aspects, Release expectations, shoulds, beliefs that no longer serve, Look Inside and Choose to connect with your tribe.  It's time to get up close and personal".
